“The beauty of wearable art…”

Lisa Naymik has long had a vision of being a full-time artist and as her friend, I've been proud to see her turning that vision into a reality this year. This week, I'm also proud to say that she's become an official Maker Member so that I can share the products of her vision with you!

Moonshine Arts is the name of Lisa's studio and where she shares and sells her handcrafted, wearable art. Each piece is unique, full of multi-layered and thoughtful design, and even always appropriately named. As a mixed media artist, there is a history to everything Lisa does and she acknowledges that history in her product descriptions.

See, here's the thing...

Lisa has been busy creating larger pieces. Pieces she doesn't necessarily want to sell. She's submitted several of those pieces for local exhibitions and each has been accepted (check out, for instance, numbers 52 and 52 of the recent Kaleidoscope Juried Exhibition at Summit Artspace).

And her process is really cool, creating mixed media papers using a variety of techniques and then using those papers to create her larger pieces. Of course, she doesn't use the entirety of the papers in the larger pieces so is left with smaller, perfectly jewelry-sized pieces, just waiting to be transformed into wearable art!

As Lisa says, "The beauty of wearable art is it always fits. The earrings I create will add a spark of joy and personality to your wardrobe. They’re an extension of personal style, they feel good, and they're fun to wear."

And what's not to love about that?
