Getting Ready for Heritage Day
Calling all amateur bakers and collectors of bits and bobs!! The Heritage Day Committee is in its final weeks of planning and has a couple of ways you can participate:
- The Bake-Off is back and open for entries! If you're a home baker who's eager to show off their sheet cake- or strudel- or scone-baking skills, this is totally your chance. Visit the Heritage Day website for the full list of rules and categories along with the online entry form, then get your recipe ready to glaze your way into first place.
- Also back is the Community Art Project in the Loop Tent! The results of the 2019 painting project will finally be revealed and this year's project will involve making mosaics. We just need the bits and bobs to make them! If you have old tiles, broken ceramics, glass "stones" or even natural stones lying around that you'd like to contribute to the cause, please contact Allison Chrien at allison@erins20.sg-host.com to make arrangements.
And, of course, any mention of Heritage Day can't be complete without an extra call for the two things the committee can always use: more vendors and more volunteers.
- This year's event has a growing list of vendors already but there's plenty of room for more at Copley Community Park! If you or someone you know would like to sign up for a space, it's not too late - simply fill out the appropriate form and send it to the address listed.
- As mentioned in last week's newsletter in regards to the Copley Car Show (which, please note, has been rescheduled for this Sunday...), volunteers are always a lava-hot commodity! You're welcome to join any of the meetings, anytime, and you'll find them listed in The Loop's Calendar. You can also find more information on what's needed and who to talk to on The Loop’s Volunteer page or on the Heritage Day website.
However you participate, one thing's for sure - we're all excited to see plans come together and just can't wait to see your smiling faces!
